Café Estaminet, as it is today, already exists for over 45 years. It would have been referred to as a "park café" at the start of the 19th century.  According to some sources, the name "Estaminet" comes from the Spanish "estan minetas", which means "are there girls?". A question which was often asked by the Spanish soldiers in the 15th century.

Today, there are no girls on offer, but we are quite happy to stick to the rest of the history.  The character that is so typical of all the years of tradition has been part and parcel of this pub. It will also be kept that way in the many years to come. 

At the bar, there is a pleasant, rather chaotic atmosphere even.  Anyone wanting to escape the bubbly busyness inside can enjoy the view of the Astrid Park on the large terrace (pergola).  Although Estaminet is, first and foremost, a meal-serving pub of and for the locals of Bruges, you will find an international mix of people here.

We work without reservations, so tables cannot be reserved.
